The Greater Kansas City Iris Society

Introduction

The Iris is the favorite flower of the Greater Kansas City Iris Society and all of its members. The Iris was named the official flower of Kansas City, Missouri in 1929.

Iris come in all varieties suited to growing in the desert or in water. Many are well suited to growing vigorously in the Kansas City area. Most gardeners are familiar with the Tall Bearded or German Iris from Grandma’s garden to modern perennial displays. They are favorite everywhere.

We hope to introduce you to a wider range of flower sizes, colors and patterns, plants sizes and variety. Expand your knowledge and enjoyment by growing a colorful palette of iris.
